Speaker 2:

Thank you, I'm glad to be here. Thanks for asking me.

Speaker 1:

So tell us a little bit about you, because there are a lot of things. Author. Trainer. President's Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

Speaker 2:

Go figure right, you knew me when I am an acupressurist and Jin Shin Jitsu practitioner. Jin Shin Jitsu is an ancient form of Japanese acupressure. I've been in private practice for over 30 years. My business name is Deborah Myers Wellness and I'm an acupressurist because I started studying it way back in the 70s that's dating me when I was in college and as energy medicine and just taking everything like sponge to water, I just was sucking it up. I wanted to learn more and experience more, but it never entered my conscious thinking that I would do it for my livelihood.

Speaker 1:

And here you are.

Speaker 2:

And here I am and I can tell you a whole lot more than that, and maybe we'll do that along the line.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that'd be great. So I know, debra, because when I was first starting to, I guess, guess monetize my training, I was a part of a woman's business group called connections and my little scared booty showed up at was it the flamingo we're?

Speaker 2:

at the flamingo hotel in santa rosa and um.

Speaker 1:

Every month they have a member share, like their little infomercial about themselves, and Debra was doing this. I guess it was like a little package system that she had for all of us to kind of take away with us, and it was called clean your house flow, and so I learned about that and I learned a little bit about my body and and how we interpret feelings and all that kind of good stuff, and so we've been in contact all these years and then I Debra started showing up on my little Facebook feed. I don't know what algorithm we hit, but I started seeing her face and then I saw that she got the president's lifetime achievement award and I thought this would be a wonderful time to connect and because, you know, we're dealing with athletes, I'm dealing with people who have chronic pain, I'm dealing with people who have intermittent pain due to injuries and stuff, and you know, I think that the clean your house flow is something that everybody can use if they're participating in life and breathing air.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Do you want to explain a little bit about it?

Speaker 2:

I would love to, and you might also recollect that, after that experience with connections, I don't know how much longer it was that I ended up in a classroom, one of your classrooms.

Speaker 1:

Oh right, that's right.

Speaker 2:

And what a phenomenal experience that was. I still thank you for trusting me to be there with not just your audience but with your students, because that's huge. That's huge and I really, really appreciated that. And that's the beauty of what I show folks is it works for all ages. It works for three, four and five-year-olds. It works for elementary school, adolescence, middle school, high school, college and beyond. It works for all ages of adults. By the way, my youngest client right now is two and a half and my oldest is 97.

Speaker 2:

And one of the things I utilize is I teach every single person I work with and again and this, by the way, is virtual or in person- oh okay, because when March 2020 hit, I reached out to all my clients and said I know this works on, you know, via Zoom, via remote, so you want to take the chance. And everyone said yes. So since March 2020, I can now say I have clients all over the world who I do one-on-ones with, as well as collective family groups, and I work, I do workplace wellness programs and I do programs for kids in schools and I have ongoing workshops. And all of that I'm saying because, from the get go, when I started seeing clients, after I got my acupressure certification, after I got my acupressure certification in 94, whenever that was I started showing my clients self-help acupressure, because I believe each and every person has the ability to do the work for themselves. They just need to be shown a technique that's easy to learn, easy to remember and easy to get around to doing, because the benefits are noticeable.

Speaker 2:

And the beauty of this thing that Dana's calling the daily clean your house flow is that it can be done in five minutes, in 10, 15, 20, whatever you want to give to it. A lot of folks use it as meditation. I start every morning doing the daily Clean your House flow. It is my form of prepping my body, getting it ready for what I'm going to ask it to do during the day, and it's my meditation for how I start processing the day. So it's not just about physical, it's about approaching the body in all realms physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Help your body be in that place, because what I love saying is that become a better partner with your body so you can do everything you want to do and be who you want to be. And, with that in mind, the one person you're going to have the longest relationship with is yourself. So make it the best darn one you can. Yay, so the daily clean your house flow. You want me to go into that now, dana? Sure, that now, dana? Sure, okay, so it's a nine-step self-help acupressure flow.

Speaker 2:

I wrote 25 years ago because I wanted my clients who at that point, for the most part, were in person, but I wanted everyone, no matter their age, to be able to have something to do on a daily basis for themselves. So I wrote it, started teaching them, and it was a client in particular who worked at a healthcare system and he said will you I've just talked to my supervisor will you bring us, bring this into our workplace Sure. So that became my first workplace wellness program and then it just evolved from there. And then I wrote a manual and then through the years I've worked with a lot of clients who were teachers, who are teachers, and they took my workshops, not only learning the daily clean your house flow, but learning everything about this thing called energy and we'll delve into that in a bit. And as they were taking what I taught them for themselves and their family members, number of them decided to take it into the classroom and they came back to me saying will you just put a real program together Because it works? And I was all okay and they said it works for the individual students, it works for them collectively in the classroom and it works for it even is noticeable on the playground that it's working. And I was all okay, so I'm busily putting it together.

Speaker 2:

And then it was one of my clients you might remember her as Jamie Spooner, way back when, okay, and she's a phenomenal artist. She heard what I was up to and she said let's do an animated video. Oh that's, I wrote the script and then Jamie put the caricatures together and created the animation. I hired a professional voiceover person and we ended up with the animated video of the daily clean your house flow show notes. At the end is the link to the animated video and all you have to do is put in your name and email address and it's yours as my gift, no charge. And it's what thanks. And it's what the teachers said. You know, they didn't even know that's what they wanted, but it's what grabbed the attention of the kids and kept it. It's only six and a half minutes long and it does the trick. And what I kept hearing from not only the teachers and the parents and the students themselves was that's an energy body and when the kids of all ages saw that and felt that, they got the aha.

Speaker 1:

That's great and I mean, you know, the challenge with educating children is that they all come in with different types of energy and stuck places and, you know, because of various things that are going on in their lives and as a when you're trying to manage, you know, depending on what you have anywhere from 20 to 35 bodies who have all different types of energy. It's nice to get them to take a moment just to kind of go within themselves and check themselves. And it also helps with behavior as well, because once they're calm, and even if there's an issue later because they're doing this work, you have the ability to say like where do you feel this in your body, you know, and then start continue questioning, and then that allows you to problem solve without saying you know you shouldn't punch little Joey in the head, you know? Kind of thing, right.

Speaker 2:

Whatever it may be, there's a connection piece.

Speaker 1:

And even for you know, at the time when Debra came to my classroom, I was a continuation high school teacher and so I had a very um, they were very interested, you know, educationally, because they were, because I was teaching them things that were outside of the school day, and they were. They wanted to know things that were going to allow them to be healthy. Um, but there was still that exterior that we had to chip through because, you know, this may be stupid or, you know, whatever it may be. And they got it and I think you know it said understanding your own energy, and you know, and, and acupressure is a big deal, right, because of the I guess, at least my understanding is the core belief of acupressure is to it is to create that flow, right, is to release the blocks, you know, through pressure in certain areas, right, so it allows it.

Speaker 1:

So how does I be? I, you know we'll, we'll put the daily house flow in there. For those of you who are like, what the hell is it? We'll take care of it. So it'll be in there for you to save. But how does energy move through the body?

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay. So, first off, most people have heard about acupuncture, right, okay, some people, a lot of people, haven't heard about acupressure. Just think of acupressure as touch rather than needle, and the one thing that really makes it optimum for those of us who walk around in this human body is that most of us have hands and fingertips. You walk around with them 24-7. So the way I love it to saying is pull them out of your pockets and start making use of them. Your body is made yes, it's energy, and it's made up of rivers of energy that flow through your body Horizontally, predominantly, vertically and diagonally, and every once in a while, you get a horizontal tangent in there.

Speaker 1:

Okay, cause I was going to ask that I'm like is there, is there a um system Like, does it flow in a particular direction?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, if you can think about going down the front and up the back and the, the rivers themselves are vertical and diagonal, and so when you place your fingertips on some of the areas, I'll be showing you. Um, if you don't mind me showing you, because I can't help myself, you're actually connecting with the energy balance points on those rivers. In Eastern medicine they're called meridians and channels. Okay, so when you connect the energy points to, you know to talk to each other. It allows those rivers of energy, those meridians and channels, to flow. Think about it this way your body is an energy system, walks around in that flow. It wants to be in flow, it wants to be happy and grounded and centered and balanced and harmonized.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes something impacts the system, as we well know. This body you walk around in could be a physical injury, could be a physical ailment, could be chronic conditions, either that were in the past or acute and that are growing more. The impact could be emotional upset or trauma, again, past or present. It could be mental confusion, too much thinking, none of thinking, cluttered thinking, shattered thinking. Whatever the it is, the it being the impact, your body will go into reaction until those impacts get corrected. And the reason I say it as corrected, because if the impact and the consequences are allowed to sit on the system and not moved out of the way, the body will start blocking those areas most impacted and they start acting and looking like beaver dams. And as any beaver dam sits on any river, it changes the flow pattern, it drops the level, it changes the current, it changes how well that river can move.

Speaker 2:

Think of a river coming down the mountainside and it could be a fast-flowing river, it could be a stream, it could be a creek. Whatever it is, it wants to keep flowing. Something impacts it A family of beavers. They're going to build the beaver dam from riverbank to riverbank and all of a sudden you end up with a dam. That dam starts causing congestion above the dam and you end up with a buildup of blockage that in our body resembles an area where toxins accumulate.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay, we want to help our bodies. Let go of any buildup, because it's the buildup of blocked energy that the body sees as toxic and chaotic or at least potential chaos. It doesn't like that. It wants happy and harmony, it wants ease and calm, it wants breath. Recognize that when those rivers of energy are flowing, the breath follows it and where the breath is opening and moving, the energy follows it. So what you're helping your body do, when you connect with the energy balance points, is helping this point, talk to that point, but this river, talk to this river. And then, all of a sudden, you have all the rivers talking to each other, which is what the body wants. You have all the rivers talking to each other, which is what the body wants. Think about the body as well as a completely collaborative system. It wants all the, not only all the points, but all the organs, and every single organ has an associated river of energy meridian channel connected to it, every system.

Speaker 1:

I was going, I was gonna ask that I was like, how does it so? Because I know like, uh, you know, there's um, liver points, right, and and you know, because that's something that, um, for those of us who have ever taken a lot of medication, that is definitely an area that gets affected because it has to filter all the crap out, you know. So, when that energy gets blocked, you know, I guess my main question is well, obviously I'd have to come to a professional, because I'm like there's a lot of stuff.

Speaker 1:

I mean, when you think about all the things that our bodies do there are a lot of points.

Speaker 2:

I mean I've seen some of those.

Speaker 1:

You know the little posters. You see it like the. You know, even if you go for the reflexology place, you know for your feet, you know there's I don't even know how many points in your foot, hundreds of them, hundreds.

Speaker 2:

Now, the way I show my clients and students in Jin Shin Jitsu. Show my clients and students in Jin Shin Jitsu. There's only 26 points. Okay, that's easy. So when you, when you learn from me no-transcript, I show it in such a way that you just get to place your fingertips in areas that I can suggest to you and all of a sudden, the body starts talking and responding, having a conversation with itself.

Speaker 2:

Think about the fact that what your body wants in order to be happy just like living in the real world, right, when we are truly happy, we have an ability to have conversations with others. When we're having conversations with others, it puts a smile on our face. Same thing goes with your body it wants to smile, it wants to be happy. So when you get this stomach energy balance point talking to this liver energy balance point, to this energy balance point that's at the base of your skull, all of a sudden guess what the body gets the message? Oh, she wants to have everything, have a conversation Right. And then it's all about creating a dialogue and as soon as the body has that experience of the flow happening, it will let you know when it's happy and it will let you know when something is going awry. It will more easily get your attention if it's meeting something.

Speaker 1:

So with that, how out of touch? Are we? With that, how out of touch?

Speaker 2:

are we. That's a good one, especially when I talk about utilizing your fingertips in touch, right? The beauty is, most of us start out being out of touch, not really fully understanding what our body is really telling us, what it's really asking for, what it would really appreciate to experience. For instance, you know I love exercising. I do in prepping for my exercise. Whether it's taking a walk, whether it's working in the garden, that can be exercise. Whether it's doing a Pilates class, whether it, whatever it is, I'm going to prep my body before, during and after. It helps my body be ready for what I'm going to ask it to be available for it, get the most out of it and then have fewer and fewer reactions. That's the beauty.

Speaker 1:

So that's interesting because one of the things and I talked to you a little bit about this offline before um with dr john sarno's um theory, with the tms um, you know he's kind of like you know your body's capable of handling it you've just created this kind of system of fear um.

Speaker 1:

So I'm slowly trying to implement things and then not having, you know, working on, working on, not having a reaction to things that previously I felt, that previously caused me fear and of course, you brought up one of the main ones for me is working out, because my belief was that doing push-ups or doing any kind of upper body work was going to create tension in my neck and that tension in my neck and jaw or whatever was going to cause me, you know, either grind my teeth or get a migraine or those kinds of things.

Speaker 1:

So so I have this like weird cycle of even you know like, before I go to the gym, I have to kind of like I have to breathe, I have to know we're okay. Even as I'm doing the exercise, I have to have a conversation with myself to let me know like you're safe. You know this is normal activity. You know you've lifted your you know hand above your head a million times today. And just because you added five pounds of weight or 10 pounds of weight, doesn't mean it's going to, like you know, break you in half so that's the thing.

Speaker 2:

Oh, go ahead and start no, no, no.

Speaker 1:

So I was going to ask you. So then, like, what is like, I guess, how do you break it, how do you?

Speaker 2:

how do you knock? The cycle off well, how do you break the patterns?

Speaker 2:

yes when the body's in a state of balance and harmony, you are in the space of being able to repattern, reprogram. Give your body the ability to change up and create new habits which are really old. You're just revisiting something that your body would really love you to re-experience. Body would really love you to re-experience. Okay, with that in mind, for instance, I just had this last weekend the opportunity to go fly fishing. Now it's been a long time, way too long. I'm an avid fly fisherman in the sense that I started back in the mid seventies that's dating me and I loved it. I took to it like duck to water, literally.

Speaker 1:

That's like it's really physical right.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, it's majorly, and I did a lot when I lived in the mountains of Colorado. I moved here in 89 into Sonoma County and I didn't get to fly fish as much because life, you know, it was a longer distance to go somewhere where I'd want to go and so it'd been a long time, probably 10 years, since I had held a fly rod. That's a long time, that's a long time.

Speaker 2:

Last weekend I I just I pulled all my gear out and went to a friend's place who has a small pond in their backyard and I just started casting. I was all wow, you still got the net, girl. But there was a realization. It was a good thing that I had pulled my equipment out because I needed to reintroduce myself to the equipment, but I had the knack. Did my body have the knack for what I put it through, asked it to do? Rather, because I really didn't put it through, I asked it to do something this last weekend and so I did my daily Clean your House flow.

Speaker 2:

I started the morning with it and off and on throughout the day, I would do specific energy balance holds, holding the points in preparation for what I was asking my body to do, so I could get the most bang for my time energy and buck, if you will, the energy and have less and less reaction and be ready for the next one. Because, folks, I was in the water by eight o'clock in the morning, was in the water by eight o'clock in the morning. We were up at Hat Creek and fishing a section for the river for like two hours. Then we'd pick up and go somewhere else for another hour, two hours, and then somewhere else, and I was in a half a dozen different places just on Saturday, and then Sunday morning started again. Okay, so that was a lot to be asking my body 10 hours plus.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's a lot of time.

Speaker 2:

And you know what? My body was so happy and it, knock on wood, it didn't go into reaction. Now, granted, I fished really, really early yesterday morning, but my body feels like it's happy with what I offered it Think of those words with what you offer your body to have it be happy. For me, fly fishing brings up these phenomenal memories. It's what I love to do for years and my question with myself was why did it take so long? Well, life got in the way. I allowed life to get in the way.

Speaker 2:

So what I do every morning is the daily clean your house flow. It recognizes and I name it that because your body is your house and if you treat it every day like you want to give it a good cleaning, get rid of the dust, bunnies, cobwebs, give it a good vacuuming and give it the ability physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to be there for you and whatever you're going to do and want to do. So I started start every day doing the daily clean your house flow. You can take five minutes, 10 minutes, 15, whatever you wish. I'll show you a few steps if you'd like, and for those who aren't seen, I'll walk you through it, Okay, so what it looks like, the very first step is to give yourself a hug.

Speaker 2:

And when you give yourself a hug, holding your fingertips with light gentle touch at your elbow, elbows or just anywhere on your upper arm, there's no wrong because there's no right just light gentle touch. Now, if you feel something beneath the fingertips with that light gentle touch, you're picking up on the pulse of the energy. The beauty is, you don't have to feel it for it to be working. That's where you get to put efforting and trying to kick it right out the window. Besides, you do not have to be perfect about anything. That's the way I've created this and the way I teach it. You don't have to be perfect. There's way too many things in our lives we try to or think have to be perfect. Let this one go. Your body will respond to the attention it's getting. When you're at your upper arms and elbows area, you're connecting with an energy balance area. Do you feel that?

Speaker 2:

that's all about now, I feel it in one hand and not the other hey, just give it time, maybe move the other hand up a little bit there. That should help Feel that now.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

There you go. What you're connecting with is your respiratory system, with your lungs, with your diaphragm, and you're connecting with your vascular system. So you're helping your whole circulatory system be filled with the oxygenated blood from your respiratory system to feed it to every cell of your being. Breathe it in. That's the beauty. Just breathe it in Light, gentle touch. A couple good breaths is all it needs. It's pulsing. Yeah, there you go, you got it. You got it.

Speaker 2:

And then the next step is to sit on your hands right at your sit bone area, right on hand, right on right, left, on left, now, right off the bat, immediately feel how your body went into a lumbar curve, right. So this hold, if you will, totally connects with the whole spinal column, gives it the place to elongate and elevate, so your head actually feels like it's more above than it was before. Your buttocks, if you will, are sinking in as you spread the energy of the spinal column. It's connecting with muscle ligament, tendon fascia tissue and the whole skeletal system. It's connecting with energy ligament, tendon fascia tissue and the whole skeletal system. It's connecting with energy balance areas that are all about vitality. So it's going to connect with your immune system, just to do this, so that first step of breath you go to here and it brings that breath into every cell of your being, creating vitality throughout. And just allow it to be Now. When I'm working with kids and I'm walking them through this, they look at me. What?

Speaker 1:

are you asking me to do Grabbing my booty?

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, just you know. I just say just try it and see what happens. But what's beautiful is they recognize the difference. Now I know that there are like workplace wellness programs where people feel uncomfortable doing that. There's no wrong because there's no right. So if you're more comfortable having your hands more to the outside of your thighs, that's okay too. There's no wrong. Okay, there's your vitality.

Speaker 2:

Now, keeping your left hand and for those of you who will watch this at some point, I'm going to mirror you. So keep your left hand at your left sit bone and bring your right hand over to your left shoulder, just like that Light, gentle touch. Yeah, right there, right where your neck and shoulder come together. If that feels too constricting, you can slide your fingertips closer to the chest area, so it's more like right here. So you're not having to. I was going to say grab. Some people have so much tightness in that area that they feel they have to grab and go firm and deep. Guess what you don't have to. It's light, gentle touch. And when you're at that energy balance point where the neck and shoulder come together, you're connecting with a point that's all about its tendency to be accumulative, an accumulation space. It would prefer not, but at some people, a lot of people have a tendency for it to become the garbage collector.

Speaker 1:

Oh, for sure.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So by holding here and continuing to hold at the sit bone, a lot of people have a tendency for it to become the garbage collector, oh for sure, Okay. So by holding here and continuing to hold at the sit bone, all of a sudden your body feels the ability of that whole left side to release all the way from the back of your head. Feel that Through your ear, through your occiput base of your skull, through the neck, through your shoulders, and it's working the front side at the same time. So it's also working with the left chest collarbone, all the way down your arm, all the way down your torso, both the front rib and the back rib, all the way into your sacrum, all the way into your hips, down your legs. And there it is, and then switch to do the other side.

Speaker 2:

The beauty is that what you're doing is helping prepare your body really big time for what you're going to ask it to do Before exercise. I'll do this. So remember I said I do the daily clean, your house flow in the morning before I do anything else Off and on throughout the day. I pull some of these points out, if you will, and just do them depending upon what I'm asking. So if I'm spending time in front of the computer, this is what I'll do, because it helps my body have better posture, better alignment. You feel that?

Speaker 1:

So there's no order technically.

Speaker 2:

In the daily clean, your house flow. There is okay, we're working system by system by system in the same realm. If you wanted to take these out and use them individually for their express purpose, you can. So when you get your hands and eyes on the day on the animated video, you can choose which ones you might want to do for any particular purpose. Okay, so prior to exercise and I'm holding this longer now than you need to, but for before exercise, I'll be doing this Before I was fly fishing when I'm getting my rod ready and I'm ready to get in the water, I'll take a few moments to do this. There, feel that. Feel how your shoulder came down, how you're on your right arm now, how your right arm almost feels longer. I'm willing to bet it almost feels like your elbow is closer to your waistline.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Feel that, yes, yeah, at the same time, your arm is lengthening, so is your torso, so there's more room for all your ribs to live. Your ribs are supposed to just be attached to the spinal column. They're not supposed to be so tightened and constricted up that they're holding on to each other for dear life. Right, right. There's supposed to be room and tissue space between every single rib. That's the way your body wants it to be. Okay, those are the first four steps of the daily cleaner household.

Speaker 1:

Those are doable. I could do those in the truck before I go work out.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and that's what I do Now. Again, I do do the whole bit. The other one I really want to share oh, should I just go on and do ahead and do them all?

Speaker 1:

uh, we got time sure yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

So the very next step is to cross your hands and hold the opposite inner thighs so it looks like oh, so yeah, put your head between that so your hands are at the inner thighs, above your knees again.

Speaker 2:

No wrong, so no right. Whether it's a on your knees, a hands width above, midway down between the groin and the inside of the knee, wherever you want to be, and it doesn't even have to be equal from like between the right and left, it's's where they land, which means every time you do this it can be different from any other time. It depends upon what your body wants your fingertips to be.

Speaker 1:

So what point is this for?

Speaker 2:

This point is for digestion, so this is a good one to do prior to eating, on its own, after eating, to help the body process. But think about the words we use when we talk about new information, new thoughts, new ideas, new possibilities. What do we do? We ingest it, we chew on it, we taste it. If it's good, we'll salivate over it. If it isn't, what do we do? We spit it out. Spit out those words.

Speaker 1:

Well, and I was also thinking because the other piece of it is, you know, in fitness we talk about cross crawl exercises, yes, and that literally you should touch opposites, because it helps create and strengthen those synopsis Exactly, and so I could see how this would work for, yeah, and you know what else it does.

Speaker 2:

It works. It connects with energetic breath, so it's another time for your body to experience breath. When I work with new babies, it's about opening up the energy of the knees so they have full expanse of breath. With that in mind, it works for all ages, right? So that's a major gift to yourself to, every once in a while, just hold your hands at your inner thighs, okay, and open up digestion of whatever you are bringing into your body physically, mentally or emotionally. The next step in the daily clean your house flow is to palm your calves. So right on right and left on left.

Speaker 2:

Now, when I do this in workplace wellness, they don't want to bend over if they're at a conference room table, because it looks that's the first time, it looks like you are doing something Right. The other thing you can do instead of is just to hold your fingers at the outside of your knees, okay. Whether you're at the outside of your knees or palming your calves, you're connecting with an energy balance point. That's all about and you could almost call it energy balance area. That's all about the letting go, so it's about elimination. It's about movement of everything, so it's repatterning, reprogramming that. Those words again. By the way, the outside of the knees, for those of you who might be experiencing some of this, it can be a temperature controller. It can help, okay, can help you down in the midst of those things called hot flashes Fantastic. It can help you cool down in the midst of 100 degree day.

Speaker 1:

Right, like we're experiencing today.

Speaker 2:

Right yeah, in the same realm, it can help warm you up on a cool day or if you're running cold and feeling the need. So when I was fly fishing yesterday morning, I got I'm pretty warm because I'm in my fleece, lined leggings and my waders and everything else, but my hands got really, really cold, so I used my fingers on the outside of my knees to get them warm.

Speaker 1:

Wow, I love it. Okay, well, it's funny because I also that is an area that, um, I tap with, because, um, you know, again, just there, you know different techniques that I use for anxiousness and um, so that's one of my areas, uh, well, actually there's a couple of them, right, because, um, you know, sometimes tapping can be too obvious and too weird. So sometimes I will cross my arms and just kind of tap at my shoulders, um, and then if that's a little too obvious or whatever, then I'll put my hands on my knees and then I'll tap the outside of my knees.

Speaker 1:

And that kind of mimics, that rapid eye movement Right To allow you to kind of retrain your brain, exactly and that's what all this is about is retraining your whole body, repatterning again.

Speaker 2:

And this is very similar to tapping it's just light, gentle touch. You don't have to go firm and deep, so I don't even need to tap you, just you, just all right. And then the next step and that, by the way, what I will be sharing, because before the end of our time together, I'm going to be sharing you about an upcoming workshop I want you to know about, and you'll get more about this in that workshop. That energy balance point at the outside of your knees is an anti-inflammatory point. Oh yeah, that's huge to help your body release whatever it's been holding on to.

Speaker 1:

Well, and also as a little aside, when you're in, if you're a woman of a certain age and you're experiencing perimenopause or possibly menopausal symptoms, inflammation becomes high in our bodies just a result of things changing. So, again, it would also explain why it helps, right? Because hot flashes are that? Was it a vascular response or there's a true medical term for that?

Speaker 2:

So yeah, so you're just kind of You're looking at somebody, by the way, who recently turned 72. No, yes, and I love being able to say that because I don't feel and you don't look 72.

Speaker 1:

Thank you.

Speaker 2:

I don't feel like 72. And you don't look 72. Thank you. And it's all about helping the body recognize that it is a viable entity that has tons of possibilities accessible to it. We just have to give it the right information. That's what this all is, is feeding your body with information.

Speaker 2:

So the very next step of the daily clean, your house flow, is bringing your hands to the base of your skull, just like that, and when you're there, with light, gentle touch, holding the base of your skull with the occiput, it's connecting with an energy balance point. That's all about consciousness and awareness. So this connects with clarity and focus. It connects with, I'll call it, the divine energy that a lot wants to be fed within you, wants to have your body experiencing all the possibilities.

Speaker 2:

So this one is phenomenal, in conjunction with some other points that I don't have time to take care of today, that are going to help with sinus constriction, migraines, jaw tension, all the sort of stuff that can cause that tightness that goes all the way from the eyes all the way down. And everything I talk about helps the body let go of whatever is creating the holding pattern, toxins, everything that it wants to let go of, so you can walk around in a body that's more happy and comfortable. The next step of the daily clean your house. Well, and, by the way, did you feel that beautiful pulse at your skull?

Speaker 1:

My hands are so hot right now. Just from like yes.

Speaker 2:

So imagine if you were doing this daily. Okay, then the next step is to come to here. So your hands are at your sternum and just put your thumbs up against your sternum and feel the breath that comes in. Feel that it's like that is an energy balance area right between your breasts that is connected to breath, to calm, to peacefulness, to possibilities, and breathe it in. There you go. Now that's eight steps.

Speaker 2:

The ninth step is called remember this one jumper cabling. That's where you cup each thumb and finger, one at a time, starting with the thumb does not matter which hand light, gentle, cupping on the thumb for a couple good breaths, and then, when you're ready, to the index finger, a couple good breaths. And, by the way, this connects with all emotion. Now, I'm not saying emotion is bad, because that's what helps us be human, but when the emotions get really big and take our breath away, cause us to hold our breath, cause us to wait for the next shoe to drop, whatever the case may be, then the emotion is almost gotten too big because it's not allowing you and the rest of your body to express itself and go forward. So when you hold here, it helps get rid of worry fast and I'll be covering that in the workshop that's coming up and it's also available on that animated video. And now, while you're just sitting there with me, hold the next hand thumb to finger, to finger and what that does for the whole body is recognize that you're its best partner. It wants you to be happy and comfortable.

Speaker 2:

So you mentioned before the word anxious. I'm really glad you used that word. I don't like using the other big word. You know what I'm talking about that thing called anxiety. It becomes a label, whereas an anxiousness is a moment in time, and that's what I want you to be able to experience. All of you is that there's so much that goes on in our world that can be just moments in time. The value of walking around in a body that's happy and comfortable and in harmony and ease and balance is that then it will get your attention. If something is cattywampus or potentially going cattywampus, it will get your attention before it gets there. I love calling things projects instead of problems. Projects, homer, are fun to work with and have a beginning and an end.

Speaker 2:

Doing your energy work on a daily basis, off and on throughout the day, and it doesn't take more than a few moments off and on throughout the day will give you and your body that opportunity to take care of you. It's like when one day I was in CVS waiting in line and there was in front of me, there was a mom and her son, and she bent down and said said his name, said Joey, that's Deborah, she's the one that did the daily clean your house flow, because she recognized me. He goes that's you and I go, yeah, so you know the daily clean your house flow. And he goes oh, I do it every day. I said that's awesome. He says, actually, I do it more than once a day. He said. I said really, and why? We said well, first off, I have to do it at least once a day. It is the daily clean your house flow. And then he said and I do it more because I do it when I get first get to school, in the classroom, and then I do it after, we do it as a group, a group after lunch and yeah, okay. And then I do it when I get home in time for homework and I do it at night because it helps me sleep better. I said that's awesome. What? What else are you getting from it?

Speaker 2:

He looks up at his mom. He goes well, I'm studying better, so I'm getting better grades, right, mom. She nods. He says I'm studying better, so I'm getting better grades, right, mom. She nods. He says I'm not sick anymore, so I'm not missing any school. And this little guy was maybe eight, nine years old Wow, okay. And she nods. And he says I play a better game of soccer, so of course I'm going to do it, I go, go boy. And then he said and now what's really crazy is I get along better with my brother. And so that's from the mouth of a kid who says this makes a difference. So think about that, that we can share this with our children, whether we're grandparents or parents or teachers or just have kids in our lives, and we can share it with our own self and we can share it with our other family members and our friends and colleagues. When the bodies feel this kind of flow, why not share it?

Speaker 1:

I love that and you know, and it's one of those things that's been kind of the core of this podcast is really about. You know, our body experiences pain. Right, because that is a natural phenomenon that we're supposed to have. Right, without pain we would not be alive. Right, because all those warning signals would be alive.

Speaker 1:

Right, because we would all those warning signals would be gone right Heat, cold, all the things. Right To know like we're in danger, but what I am finding, or and what I'm finding is that, at least for me, the result of a lot of my pain and tension in the body and all that stuff comes from the fact that I do not one. I wasn't connected with my body at all. It was a separate entity that I technically was at war with and I was losing. And then the other piece was that the acceptance of my emotions and this work that I'm doing was very difficult because I, you know, we're patterning, right. You know 40 some odd years of repressing, right, of showing up, smiling even though the world is crappy or whatever. I'm still like, yeah, everything's great.

Speaker 1:

And then you know, walking around like a bound mess and then, when you get into that pattern of not really feeling things, you know, then your body says, well, we want you to feel things because we're still here and we're trying to work and we're trying to do our job and you know you're messing things up. So you know, here's some ankle pain, here's, you know, here's a crick in your shoulder. Let's make your head throb. You know all this stuff. So I mean, what I enjoy about this is the fact that it really does go back to that connection with your body.

Speaker 1:

I love it always comes back to the breath, because the breath is why we're here. Right, I mean and I've talked about it on other episodes, about the strength of the breath and what it does for our body system just to have that richness of you know, I want to say like unobstructed flow, right, it just having a, you know, go through and you know. So, of course, now you know, part of the reason why you're here is that you're going to have a workshop. Yes, because now you've expanded into my territory.

Speaker 2:

So Well, and I've always been there. I just happened to title it, yes maybe that's it.

Speaker 1:

You needed me, right. You were telling me what you were doing. You just now needed to like put up a neon sign and say hey, dana, pay attention.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so here you go. It's called the great pain escape and literally it's all about recognizing that your body, when it's in a state of pain whether it's from physical, mental or emotional it is an indicator of something is awry and it prefers the out of sync to be let go so that the body can rediscover how to be in a state of ease and calm. And it's also this workshop will be addressing not only physical pain, not only physical pain, but think about if you have an emotional upset. Yes, it hurts your heart. That's pain. The body sees it as pain. When you find that some piece of information has been really really hard to chew on and swallow and your jaw gets tight. That's pain connected to the information you tried to swallow. And if you didn't swallow it, it's affecting your digestive system yes, you're right your elimination system and all the other pieces. It could also be affecting your vascular system. It's definitely affecting and you mentioned it, dana it's definitely affecting the filtration organs and their pathways. You have three main. All your organs are filtration organs. Number one the three we oftentimes hear the most about are liver, kidney, spleen. They are main to the whole picture of collecting, are main to the whole picture of collecting. The trick is we want to help them recognize when something needs to be stopped in its tracks and then stop the pattern of accumulation. In other words, help the organ do its job, which is to recognize when something shouldn't be collected and then help it let go so there's no accumulation pattern. That's the goal I want to address.

Speaker 2:

When I'm with anyone who attends the workshop with me and it's happening in October, coming up in a couple weeks it's three Wednesday evenings, october 9th, 16th and 23rd, 6 o'clock Pacific time, and it's virtual, it's via Zoom. So go to the link for the workshop and pop in the registration information. You will you know if you're in a different time zone. It'll help you figure out. You know what time it is for you. It's fully recorded. So if you can't be there live, it's a okay. Whether you can be there one, two or three times doesn't matter. You will get an email the day after with the recording and you will also get a copy of a handout so that you don't have to sit there and take notes.

Speaker 2:

I want you experiencing I'm going to be giving you direction, if you will as to where to place your hands, where to connect with the acupressure points and have them start talking to each other in a deeper way. So that thing called feeling the pulses may happen more frequently. But here's the key If you don't feel, the pulses happen more frequently. But here's the key, if you don't feel the pulses, it's okay, it's still working. That's the beauty of all this and as your body experiences that, hopefully you'll start recognizing that it's changing your breath. It's creating more space for your digestive system to be a-okay, for your muscle, ligament, tendon fascia tissue to say oh, I'm so much ready now for that workout, for that run, for whatever you're going to be doing.

Speaker 2:

That's my dream and vision for you and with that in mind, if you opt to sign up, you will be receiving a special coupon code because you're Dana's peeps and you will get $100 off. So the regular price is only $197. Using this code, you will get in for only $97 for the whole three nights. That's fantastic, all that information. I want you to have that because I love Dana and I want all of her folks to have this available. Because when you help your body experience flow, you truly are giving your body, in all parts, layers, the opportunity to have a better conversation with itself, open up the dialogue between your whole being, the you. You are at all, the pieces, parts, layers and places within you, whether we call them organs or meridians, or channels or systems, or whatever the body wants you to communicate with yourself. I give you permission to talk to yourself.

Speaker 1:

Woo-hoo Woo. Deborah Myers, thank you so much for your time and expertise and love. I am so honored to be on this path of helping people heal themselves, and I just I love you.

Speaker 2:
